I recently had the wonderful opportunity to take a session on “Discovering Nature: Observing, Documenting and Connecting with the World Around Us” at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), hosted by the student club Signature Nexus on 8th October 2025.
Standing in front of such an enthusiastic and curious audience, I wanted the session to be more than just a talk — I wanted it to be an experience.
We explored:
🌿 How to truly observe nature — slowing down and noticing patterns
📸 Practical ways of documenting biodiversity using platforms like iNaturalist and eBird
🧠 An introduction to biomimicry — learning innovation from nature’s designs
🎯 Fun, interactive quizzes that sparked curiosity and participation
What made the session special was the energy in the room. The participants weren’t just listening — they were engaging, questioning, sharing, and genuinely excited about reconnecting with nature.
And the most inspiring part?
After the session, the club organized the Asia Nature Challenge right on campus — and it turned out to be a huge success. There was incredible participation, lively discussions, and a renewed enthusiasm for biodiversity documentation. Seeing so many people step out to observe, record, and appreciate the natural world was deeply fulfilling.
The faculty members were equally encouraging — in fact, there were discussions about creating a butterfly park on campus and even an invitation to conduct a birding and nature walk session outside in the near future!
Moments like these remind me why I love speaking about nature and citizen science. When people begin to notice the small details — the butterflies, the birds, the patterns in leaves — something shifts. Awareness grows. Connection deepens.
Grateful to LBSNAA and Signature Nexus for the platform and the warm response.
Here’s to more campuses embracing biodiversity, curiosity, and conscious observation. 🌏✨
